Candy Donaldson, BSc
Director - Indigenous Knowledge Circle (Ode'imin)
she/her/kwe
Candy makes her home in Windsor - Wawiiatanong Ziibi (Where the River Bends) joining the Healthy headwaters lab (HHL) as a relationship builder and space holder. Through continuous reflection, both within sharing circles and personally, she is bridging knowledges and supporting community initiatives locally and in the Great Lakes Basin.
Inspired to be a good listener, Candy leads the inner Ode’imin (Heart Berry) circle and the further reaching Indigenous Knowledge Circle (IKC). Over tea, Indigenous researchers, artists, students and allies share stories, offer insights and support each other's efforts in a good way - the responsibility of caring for the Water connecting us.
The Ode’imin (Heart Berry) circle name is inspired by the Anishinaabe Strawberry stories that highlight relationship as a gift to be honoured, requiring continuous cultivation, forgiveness and reciprocity. It is here that HHL Indigenous and Bkejwanong community members develop land-based teaching modules and resources, set research priorities and create communications.
