Jolie Gareis
Postdoctoral Researcher
she/her
Jolie is a postdoctoral fellow and works jointly with the HHL and BioLiNE Corp. to characterize carbon-based organic compounds that promote crop growth.
Jolie has a background in collaborative research in northern Canada, including six years when she coordinated and facilitated regional research taking place in the Mackenzie Delta as the Manager of the Western Arctic Research Centre. During her PhD, which she completed in 2018, she studied the seasonal dynamics of carbon, nutrients, and sediment in the Mackenzie River, and how floodplain storage during spring high-water periods alters the amount and quality of carbon discharged into the Arctic Ocean. Her PhD research has been published in Polar Research, Arctic Science, and Water Resources Research.
Now based in south-western Ontario, Jolie is excited to work in a new ecosystem with colleagues who prioritize working collaboratively on local issues that have global importance.
