HHL Celebrates Pride!

Diversity is necessary for progress, that is why we celebrate Pride.

HHL wishes you all a happy Pride Month!

The month of June is when 2SLGBTQ+ people celebrate their pride in their community. There are many ways to celebrate Pride: learning the history, having a party, or researching the amazing contributions 2SLGBTQ+ scientists, artists, and activists have made to our society.

We celebrate Pride to bring awareness to the discrimination that 2SLGBTQ+ face in their daily lives, especially in the STEM fields, but it is also to celebrate 2SLGBTQ+ individuals achievements in STEM and other fields.

HHL is committed to ensuring a sense of belonging in our team and the work we do. Many of us work towards amplifying JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) best practices which includes the centering of Indigenous rights and ways of knowing in our work. Since our lab was founded, we have only grown in diversity and we celebrate having so many unique and individual voices focused on storytelling and making change in the field of STEM.

In case you missed it in last year’s post, here are some resources and personal accounts from 2SLGBTQ+ people from Pride in STEM. https://prideinstem.org/resources-2/
