Liber Ero Postdoctoral Fellow

she/they

Courtney Robichaud is a Liber Ero postdoctoral fellow working with the Healthy Headwaters Lab and Carleton University. As a postdoc, Courtney is supporting local First Nation partners who are developing a community-based watershed monitoring program, with a focus on wetland restoration and carbon monitoring. This work will weave western science approaches with community-led priorities, building community capacity in all aspects of co-creation, training and mentorship, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. By walking together, we will strengthen local First Nations communities of practice and be one example of how authentic place- and trust-based partnerships can contribute to the improved health of Nayaano-nibiimaang Gichigamin (The Great Lakes basin).

Courtney received a PhD from the University of Waterloo, and has a background in wetland ecology, community ecology, and ecological restoration. Her previous research focused on how wetlands responded to invasive Phragmites australis management using a glyphosate-based herbicide. Courtney is also Deputy Director of Support Our Science, a grassroots organization advocating for improved pay for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, is an Associate Editor for Conservation Science and Practice, and was an elected council member of the Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution (2021-2023).
